I'm so humbled by how many of you don't know me and follow and support my macrame shop.
So I'd like to formally introduce myself.

My name is Alexia Loukia Vassiliadis.
My brand's name, ale•lou, comes from my first and middle names.
My middle name is very special to me, since it's my yiayia's (grandmother's) name and I am the only grandchild that carries it.
I have always been so proud of that.

That leads to the most important thing to me; family. My family is EVERYTHING. My mom, dad, and older brother are my world and make mine so wonderful. I grew up in New Jersey with them always by my side and supporting every endeavor, including this little shop of mine.
The rest of my huge family, lives in Cyprus, Greece and UK (I even have a tattoo dedicated to them), and there are simply no words to describe how much they mean to me.

I grew up an athlete and didn't recognize my artistic side until my senior year of high school!
•
I was recruited to play college soccer in Virginia Beach, where I got my BS in Mathematics and a minor in Studio Art (weird combo, I know).
•
I recently received my MS in Mathematics and I am teaching college kiddos some fun math all the way across the nation in sunny San Diego.
My career goal is to be a college Math Professor, just like my momma, with hopes of having my little business on the side, of course!

I am a beach lover, beer drinker (IPAs all day), huge foodie, traveler, teacher, artist, and just a happy gal in her mid 20s trying to live a good, happy, & healthy life.

Want to guess what I am most proud of though? You guessed it... MY GREEK CULTURE. I'm sure you can tell by my many Greek inspired pieces I've made so far, but being Greek/Cypriot is everything to me. Growing up in the States, it was something I always held tightly onto because it made me feel closer to my family no matter the distance.
And Greek people are just....the best....

Anyways, that's just a little bit about me :)
My macramé pieces are made with cotton cord and string. Many of these are made from recycled fibers. I also love to use other various fiber mediums to add that unique touch, texture, and depth every piece deserves.

And … YOU!
· My pure love and admiration for my Greek Culture is the foundation of ale·lou. It is such a rich, beautiful, and profound culture and I try to capture all these sentiments in my pieces.
· “Boho is inspired by people who choose to lead an unconventional life such as constant travelers.” My admiration for Bohemian Décor is strongly influenced by my travels, the places I have seen, and the places I dream of visiting. This aesthetic can really transport you and your imagination. That is exactly the feeling I want my handmade pieces to bring to their owners.
· Fiber Art won my heart over in the middle of 2020 and has only grown since. Learning new techniques and working with the materials with my own hands really keeps me going and continues to push me as a macramé artist.
· YOU are my inspiration. My heart will always belong to custom pieces. There is just something so wonderful working one-on-one to create a special piece just for YOU and your special space. So, I invite YOU to be my next flash of inspiration and to work together to create a beautiful and unique piece 😊
